I found this adorable (and free!) hat pattern and thought I'd knit one up with some leftover wool from the stash.
The pattern is designed to be easy enough for beginners and comes in baby through adult sizes. It really is an easy project, so I might just whip up a few for larger heads before it gets cold out.
Ravelry notes are here.

cute hat! it's cool how the lines of knitting (i'm sure there's a technical term for it) are vertical on one side and horizontal (and inside out?) on the other. blue hats work well on blue-eyed babies. that first pic is so great!
